Parallel Architecture is led by Robbie Thompson and James Nicholson, working from Bristol and Brighton. We run the studio collaboratively, with both directors closely involved in every project. Together we bring complementary experience across residential architecture, planning, technical design and construction management, including work on complex sites and basement projects in London.
Services
We work on new homes, extensions, basement projects, small residential developments and selected commercial and leisure buildings. Our services include development appraisals, planning applications, architectural and technical design, Building Regulations coordination, tendering and contract administration. We tailor our involvement to each client, from full service through to focused support for experienced developers.
Process
We begin by understanding the brief and the needs of each client. We assess the opportunities and constraints of the site, develop options collaboratively and guide the planning strategy. We coordinate clear technical information with engineers and specialists, tender the project to suitable contractors and manage construction through to completion and aftercare.
Approach
Our work is rooted in context, natural materials and clear, contemporary detailing. We focus on well-considered layouts, buildability and a strong sense of place, designing practical and durable buildings that support the way people live and work.
