The Copse, Batheaston
Located on the edge of just outside Bath, this small residential development is arranged to work with the natural slope of the site and the surrounding landscape. The houses share a restrained contemporary character, with simple forms, large glazed openings and layouts organised to maximise light and views while maintaining privacy between plots.
The internal arrangements prioritise clarity and ease of use, with open-plan living spaces, efficient circulation and well-proportioned bedrooms supported by ancillary utility and storage spaces. Externally, each home is positioned to sit comfortably within the topography, with considered relationships to gardens, boundaries and neighbouring buildings.
Parallel Architecture worked with the private developer from the initial planning stages through to full technical design, providing feasibility studies, planning support and comprehensive construction drawings. The project brings together a coherent set of dwellings that respond to the site conditions and the wider context of Batheaston.
